2022's Motivation & Recharging

So for 2022, I am giving anyone who might be interested some insight into my profession. I'm beginning by providing you with what energizes me as an architect and artist. Motivation is the key that drives architects/artists. This is especially true when, here in the USVI, it is a constant battle to justify why your services and expertise have an intrinsic and monetized value. I constantly get drained as any creative when dealing with such issues, and the solution is to re-energize. How do I do it ... via stimuli. I gravitate as an artist/architect to the built environment, but specifically to museums and galleries ... art does it for me.

2021 presented many opportunities I had steadily cultivated the previous year, even though 2021 was quite a bit tumultuous. Charitable community project needs always have unique requirements that I have provided over the years, but they become especially difficult when you have to balance them with those of paying clients. I, being someone generationally connected to my home, find time to give back which is something I have done throughout my career. However, we all get to the point where we are spent, and the solution is to change the script. My mind and body screamed it was time to rejuvenate.

A quick trip to the city that never sleeps always does the trick. There is nothing like the art nerd I've always been, seeing in person the art luminaries that moved me a “youth” now are hanging in front of my face ... speaking to me again. And, hooking up with college classmates, all accomplished, of course, and persons of color, making waves in their respective fields: giving me that supportive vibe and telling me, yes ... you are navigating life as you should.

I am energized and ready. Here are those charging images for me and maybe, they may do the same for you too. Here's to 2022 and making me and you, the best we can be. Anything else could be construed as less than, and this new year is anything but that!
